By law, alcohol cannot be shipped to PO boxes or APO/FPO addresses. Villagewinestore.com does not currently ship internationally.
Proof of Age
By law, alcoholic beverages may be sold and delivered only to persons who are at least 21 years of age and an adult signature is required upon receipt of delivery. To ensure the recipient is at least 21, all shipments containing alcohol are marked 'Adult Signature Required' and the carrier delivering the merchandise is required to verify the recipient is an adult possessing valid picture identification proving he or she is at least 21 years of age. By placing an order with villagewinestore.com, you are representing to us that you are at least 21 years old and the person receiving the delivery is also at least 21 years of age. In the event the customer fails to provide positive proof of age, the customer is required to pay all associated shipping charges for any wine that is returned.
Shipping Rates
We offer FedEx shipping. Shipping prices include the price of labor, insulated styrofoam shippers and charges levied by FedEx. Our shipping is done in containers that hold 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 12 bottles of wine. To make the most of your shipping dollar, you should order in those quantities, as a 7 bottle order will ship in a 12 bottle container and cost about the same to ship.
Insurance
To protect you in the event a package is lost or damaged in transit, Villagewinestore.com provides the option to purchase insurance. To purchase insurance, click ‘yes’ during checkout and insurance costs will be calculated and emailed to you. If you choose to waive insurance you release Villagewinestore.com of all responsibility. Please note that insurance covers items that are lost or broken in transit. Carriers do not insure against extreme heat or cold damage to wines. If you receive your wine damaged, you must contact us within 2 days so we may pursue a claim with the carrier.
Shipping and Processing Time
All orders can take up to 2 or more business days to process. Once they have been processed, they ship the same day. FedEx transit times take effect once the wine has shipped from our processing facility. Transit times can range from 1 to 5 days based on your location. If there will be additional delays due to weather or out of stock items, you will be contacted via email. If an item goes on backorder, we will ship and bill you for the partial order and we will contact you for approval before shipping the balance of the order.
Extreme weather conditions can damage wine. If you are concerned about weather conditions, please let us know and we will delay your shipment until conditions are favorable for shipment. If you choose to use this service, place a note in the customer's notes box at checkout. If we are aware of extreme conditions, we may, at our discretion, choose to delay shipment until conditions are more favorable. If we choose to do this, we will notify you at once. Due to the fact that weather conditions can change rapidly, Villagewinestore.com and FedEx assume no liability for wines damaged by changes in weather during transit. We recommend air freight except for on the west coast.
Interstate Shipping
All wines are sold in California and title passes to the buyer in California. Villagewinestore.com makes no representation to the legal rights of an individual to ship wine into a state other than California. Once an order is placed with villagewinestore.com, the purchaser is representing that he or she is aware of the laws in their individual state and assumes all responsibility. If you wish to ship to another state, you assume all responsibility for determining whether you may lawfully import alcoholic beverages into that state. As interstate shipping laws are constantly changing, you should check with the appropriate agency in your state or county.
Delivery Attempts
At the time of delivery, if no one is available to receive a package, a subsequent attempt to deliver will be made. If subsequent attempts are unsuccessful, your order will be returned to our logistics center. To avoid unnecessary delivery fees, we encourage you to use a commercial address rather than residential to assure the fastest delivery. An additional fee will apply to reship undeliverable packages. The customer is responsible if all delivery attempts fail. The customer will be required to incur the cost of shipping and handling, regardless if the customer decides to cancel the order.
Sales Tax
Local Los Angeles County sales tax of 8.25% is added to all orders shipped within the state of California. Orders shipped to states outside of California are not subject to California state sales tax. In some states, consumers may need to pay local sales or exise taxes in addition to those collected by villagewinestore.com. The consumer is responsible for contacting the appropriate agency in their individual state to determine which, if any, local taxes apply.
Special Shipping Requests
Any special shipping requests should be noted in the ‘special notes’ section of the check-out page or sent via email to customerservice@villagewinestore.com. Please note the order number in the title of the email. For local customers who choose to order online and pick-up at our retail store, please note this in the ‘special notes’ at check-out or email to customer service and note ‘hold for will call’ in the title of the email. We will gladly hold the order at our retail location for up to 2 weeks.
